Executive Director
Caitlyn Dowdy
As a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Supervisor, my passion has always been to help others find light on the other side of what can feel like a dark and overwhelming tunnel. I frequently work with adults ages 17+ to explore how past experiences influence present behaviors and emotional responses, and I support individuals struggling with addiction in reclaiming control over their lives. I enjoy working with couples to strengthen communication, resolve conflict in healthy ways, and reconnect with the spark that first brought them together. I also work with children ages 8–17 navigating depression, anxiety, self-harm, parental separation, bullying, and self-esteem challenges.
Using an Adlerian therapeutic foundation and evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and Solution-Focused Therapy, I partner with clients to navigate life’s challenges with clarity, resilience, and empowerment.
I earned my Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, and am licensed to practice in North Carolina. My professional journey began over a decade ago, working in community mental health with individuals facing substance use disorders, child sexual abuse, developmental disabilities, dual diagnoses, and severe mental illness. These early experiences shaped my deep respect for comprehensive, compassionate care across diverse populations.
In addition to my clinical work, I have advanced into leadership within Simply Thrive Therapeutic Associates and Simply Teens Outpatient. I began by developing and implementing a comprehensive training manual as Onboarding Coordinator, helping to strengthen staff development and clinical consistency. From there, I advanced to Clinical Director, overseeing clinical operations and supporting therapist growth. Today, I serve as Executive Director of Simply Teens Outpatient, where I provide strategic leadership, program oversight, and continued dedication to expanding high-quality adolescent mental health services.
I remain deeply passionate about every individual and family I serve. Therapy can feel intimidating, overwhelming, and vulnerable—but it is also empowering. You are the conductor of the train; I am simply the track to help guide you forward as you move toward healing, growth, and the life you deserve.
