Alex Vergara

Alex, a trauma-trained and trauma-informed clinical mental health therapist, has been in the field since 2021. Having earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2019, Alex then earned his Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Wake Forest University in 2022. He is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in the state of North Carolina.

Throughout the past four years, Alex has held several positions, including lead student intern, qualified professional, and ultimately a licensed clinical mental health counseling therapist for Intensive Outpatient (IOP) and traditional Outpatient levels of care. At the IOP level of care, Alex gained experience working with teens aged 13-18 struggling with suicidality, self-harm, trauma, depression, and anxiety. He also has experience working with families of teens impacted by mental health challenges and has 4 years of group counseling experience.

Alex brings his bright and positive energy to the Simply Teens clinical team and enjoys building rapport with his clients. He utilizes Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)-informed approaches, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), trauma-informed approaches, motivational interviewing, and mindfulness in his sessions. Having worked with an array of clientele, Alex enjoys working with Teens aged 16+, young adults, LGBTQIA+ population, trauma, depression, and anxiety.
